the big zipper

It was awful.

I had just finished dinner last night, and was all hooked up to my biofeedback device for a session of relaxation. My heart rate was coming down and I was focussing on my breathing when it occurred to me that I would be more comfortable in a pair of pj pants than in the skirt I was wearing. So I pulled at my zipper puller and couldn’t get it to go down.

At that point, I realised that I’d have to remove the biofeedback sensors, which indicated that my relaxed state was no longer. I tugged at the zipper, but it wasn’t budging. I went for Ricky’s pliers and managed to break the puller. I inserted a paper clip where the puller was attached and tried tugging again. Nothing was happening other than my beginning to get visibly upset and vocal. I took an X-Acto blade out, but wasn’t sure where to start removing the stitching. I considered ripping the skirt, but I’m actually quite fond of it.

I did the unthinkable—I called Ricky at his client’s. He came home, ripped through the zipper with the blade and freed me from my stylish prison. Then he returned to work. Grrr. it was impossible for me, but it was a snap for him . . .

I’m an unabashed fan of Malcolm Gladwell. Here’s his latest from the The New Yorker.

80

Yesterday, I donated my 80th unit of blood! Yay! It’s twice in a row that I can donate blood because my iron levels are within the norm for donating. Yay!

I haven’t done any research on blood types in the last little while, but looked at the Wikipedia page on it. I hadn’t realised that in South Korea, only .1% of the population has O-negative blood. There’s one place Ricky and I won’t be visiting soon!

what was i thinking?

When my hairdresser said that he only had a slot at 08:30 and that we’d be opening the salon together tomorrow morning, I thought it was a great idea.

What kind of a person makes a hair appointment at 08:30 on a Saturday after a crazy work week, anyway?

Oh.

Right.

This is it . . .the Nissan Rogue, Ricky’s toolmobile, Lou’s bluemobile.

It responds well, is very smooth, and it’s blue! :)

montreal spring

The true harbinger of spring is not crocuses or swallows returning to Capistrano, but the sound of the bat on the ball.

    • Bill Veeck

Actually, around here, it’s the sound of the ball on the hockey stick.
